Steve Azar was born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi at the entrance to the Mississippi Delta. He was encouraged to head to Nashville and pursue his dream of writing and producing his own recordings.
Steve’s second studio album, “Waitin’ on Joe” came smashing on to the charts in 2002. The album, released by Universal Music Group Nashville’s Mercury Records, charted to #29 on the Top Country Albums chart. It’s lead-off single, “I Don’t Have to Be Me ‘Til Monday”, was his biggest hit at #2 nationally on the country radio charts and is one of the Top 5 most played songs of the last decade on country radio.
His next single was the title track from the record, “Waitin’ on Joe”. “Waitin’ on Joe”, became a Top 10 radio hit and reached #1 on the CMT video charts. The “Waitin’ on Joe” video featured Academy Award Winning Actor, Morgan Freeman.
In 2007, Steve was personally chosen by Bob Seger to open his U.S. tour which was ranked by Pollstar Magazine the #1 tour in America that year.
In 2009, Steve released his fourth album “Slide On Over Here”. Off of the album, the single “Sunshine” won not only critical praise, but set a record for highest charting song from a true independent label on the Billboard Activator chart. “Sunshine” also got the endorsement of country star Taylor Swift when she named the song the “Song She Loved in 2010” in People Magazine. “Sunshine” was also featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things list for Christmas in 2011 and was the most requested wedding song of the year. “Sunshine” was again featured in US Weekly Magazine in June 2012 as popular celebrity wedding song.
On Memorial Day 2011, Steve released “Soldier Song” a tribute to our soldiers and their families. “Soldier Song” was chosen by Fox News Channel and used as the theme music behind their Memorial Day special on “Special Report with Bret Baier”. Steve’s album “Delta Soul: Volume I” was released in November 2011. In 2012, Steve released a track entitled “American Farmer,” which was met by rave reviews in the farming community. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the song is being donated to local chapters of the FFA.
In October 2012, moviegoers across the country will hear Steve’s single “Doin’ It Right” as the title credit track for the film “Here Comes the Boom” starring Kevin James and Salma Hayek, distributed by Sony Pictures.
Trick Pony is the well-known, platinum record selling, award winning trio made up of lead singer, guitar and harmonica player Heidi Newfield, guitar player and singer Keith Burns, and bassist/ singer Ira Dean. They formed back in 1996 and released their first self-titled album on Warner Bros Records in 2001, which went on to sell over a million records and warrant the band a Grammy nod as well as AMA and ACM Group of the year awards. They continued to make 2 more albums together spawning more hits and awards, but always paid it forward by doing many charity events and USO tours overseas.
Known for their high energy rockin’ live shows and their unique voices blending in perfect harmony.
They disbanded at the end of 2006 after 10 years of touring hard and many top 20 hits, to pursue their own creative endeavors.
Not since December of 2006 has Heidi, Keith, and Ira been on stage together. “We have always shared a deep respect for one another and made some very distinct and authentic music, and we couldn’t think of a better reason to play together again, than for our friends in Boston and the Blackstone Valley Boys and Girls Club. We are actually quite excited to get on stage again as a trio. It will be an event to remember for sure!” said Heidi.
Kathleen Regan is an 18 year old singer/songwriter from the small town of Holliston, MA. Kathleen set her sights on a music career early on and she hasn’t stopped reaching for the stars. At the young age of 3 years old, Kathleen discovered her love for music and began performing live on stage when she was just 5. Since then, she’s been a wide-eyed eager talent. She started writing her own songs at age 10, and got her first guitar at age 13 (it only seemed like the perfect next step for an aspiring country artist)
In pursuit of her dream to become a recording star, Kathleen packed her bags and traveled across the country to Los Angeles to spend her summer vacation in an artist development program. She followed a rigorous daily routine of vocal training, songwriting, guitar lessons, recording sessions, physical training and even some yoga to stay positive and focused on her goal. She’s only 18 years old, but Kathleen is writing as if she’s been on the road for years and her sound has been compared to the likes of Jewel and Colbie Caillat. Kathleen has really been working her craft for the past 2 years when she decided to take time off after graduating high school to travel to places like LA & Nashville to work hard at what she does for the love of music. The journey so far has been nothing but exciting and the future is bright for this superstar in the making.
Message from our Board of Directors – “Consistent success will always be more rewarding than occasional greatness”. The Blackstone Valley Boys & Girls Club has embraced this directive for the past 20 years to make every day at the Club, a consistent and successful positive place for kids.
To our Club Family of staff, parents, children and supporters, your support, dedication and contribution has prepared the foundation that has allowed the Club to experience so many successes in its first 20 years. Come join us this summer as we celebrate our 20th anniversary and find out what we have in store for the next 20 years.
